Horses on "Little Acres"

horsepower. It was much better finished than the other machines I looked at. It has enough grunt to lift round bales no problems. I like the hydrostatic transmission because I do a lot of stop starting getting on and off the tractor to get through the horse paddock gates. It is a very practical tractor. I can change over implements easily. The PTO works really well and I can get a lot done with the 4 in 1 bucket. My next project is to use the 4 in 1 to level an area and put down some crushed rock in preparation for a concreting job.

I like the equipment I use to do the job properly. Some of my neighbours have bought lesser machines and been disappointed. I am glad I did my homework and bought a Branson from Midway Sales who really back their product.

Harry and Lorraine Bundy live on an immaculate horse property known as “Little Acres”. The Bundys have owned the 20 acre property in Beveridge Victoria approximately 40 km north of Melbourne for 40 years. When they first bought the property it didn’t even have fences and the Bundys have worked at it over many years to bring it to where it is today. Harry explains “I have been involved with horses since I was 14 and this property has enabled me to continue my interest. I am still involved in fox hunting and show jumping – it keeps me young and fit. Even though I am semi-retired, I work at Flemington race course on event days to manage the jockeys lounge and gate staff – this keeps me active too.

We have 4 horses on the property and we have the paddocks and stables set up for them. I need a good tractor for harrowing, to shift round bales and for generally looking after the place. I have had a few tractors over the years starting with a grey Fergie, then a Ford and I bought an East Wind tractor from Midway Sales a few years ago – so I had pretty good idea of what I wanted when it was time to change over. I looked at a lot of tractors before deciding. I ended up choosing the Branson 55
